We thank you for considering an investment in Abukloi School during this worldwide pandemic.
Due to a lack of nutrition and pre-existing health conditions, the people of South Sudan are particularly vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus. Whether you make a one-time contribution, become a recurring donor, or invest in a larger project, every amount will have a tangible impact on the lives of our students and their community.
Read below for ways you can contribute or click the Give Now button above.
The foundation of any great school is the teachers who devote themselves to educating others. The teachers of Abukloi overcome a number of personal challenges to devote time to their students inside and outside the classroom. This has become even more challenging as enrollment increases annually. Our staff needs to divide the day into two sessions to ensure productive class sizes. But it also creates a longer day with more planning.
Please consider a recurring donation to support their work. Our current teacher salary is $300 a month.
Abukloi is committed to the education of girls.
Educating girls will increase the education rate in South Sudan exponentially as girls share their knowledge with younger siblings and future children.
Thirty percent of our students are female. A number we would like to increase.
A recurring gift of $50 a month will educate a girl all year.
The quality of Abukloi School is well-known around the state. Coupled with the lack of adequate secondary schools, Abukloi is experiencing growing pains. We are in need of several facility improvements, including:
Kitchen Facilities to feed 575 students and 30 staff a daily meal of rice and beans COST: $45,000
Solar-powered well and tank to provide water for the kitchen and agriculture project COST: $5000
Additional classrooms COST: varies
Library Improvements COST: $2500
Desks and supplies COST: $5000
Co-curricular activities offer an opportunity for more than fun. School activities outside the classroom develop the whole person through leadership, creativity, interpersonal, and management skills.
Abukloi offers a number of opportunities to lead outside the classroom:
Soccer, basketball, and volleyball
UN Peace Clubs
Red Cross First Aid Training
Student-run radio program
$5000 a year sustains these vital programs.
